The number of men tanning is increasing and the MAN TAN is quickly becoming one of St.Tropez’s fastest growing treatments. Celebrity fan’s of the MAN TAN include designer Henry Holland, comedian and presenter Keith Lemon and actor Hugh Jackman is even rumoured to like a glow.

St.Stropez’s very own resident tanning expert; Jules Heptonstall has shared his top tips on achieving a safe all over healthy glow this summer.

To maximise the MAN TAN preparation is key. Before tanning St.Tropez Body Polish (£10) should be used to remove any dead skin cells creating an even surface, paying special attention to the driest areas including hands, elbows, knees and the backs of your ankles.

Men don’t need to be body hair free to get the perfect tan, St.Tropez Bronzing Mousse (£30.64) will help to work through the hair leaving an all over even tan. With a mousse based product, use three-pumps-per-limb on the first coat and apply with an applicator mitt (£3.57). The air-infused, lightweight, formula glides onto your skin and through the body hair effortlessly and the mitt ensures even coverage and a streak free finish.

St.Tropez Self Tan Lotion (£30.64) formula requires gloves to apply but can also be massaged into the skin giving a great long lasting colour. An applicator mitt (£3.57) is the ‘must have’ tool for tanning as it prevents tell tale signs such as golden palms.

For those wanting a quick fix or nervous about tanning St.Tropez Instant range is ideal. Using St.Tropez Instant Lotion (£10) is a good method of practicing your tan before using the Self Tan Mousse.

For those worried about tanning at home can leave it to the professionals. A professional tan will usually take between 20-30 minutes and a great fix in your lunch hour or straight after the gym.

After you have applied the self tan, ideally leave it to develop for 8-12 hours. During this time don’t shower or do any activity which might cause you to sweat as this can dissolve the colour, breaking down the tan. Use an aloe vera based moisturiser like St.Tropez Tan Enhancing Body Moisturiser (£10) to avoid a patchy, scaling effect as the tan wears.
