We admit it, tanning your hands it notoriously tricky to perfect but don’t worry, we’ve got tips and tricks that will not only give you a flawless tan all over but the confidence to nail it every time.

Step 1: Prep & Prime

Firstly, you need to exfoliate. You’ve probably heard this a million times before, but it really is essential to prep and prime the skin to get rid of dead and dry skin cells and any previous fake tan (if you’re a weekly tanner!). Hands tend to be particularly dry due to the frequent washing so we need to give the hands some TLC by moisturising, paying attention to the knuckles and the palms of the hands. One of the most tell-tale signs of self-tan is darkened knuckles, therefore this area needs to be hydrated to help even out the glow.

Step 2: Applying tan

Our first tip is to tan your hands last and to use the left over product from the mitt. Trust us – it’s enough! Make sure your hand is positioned in a claw-like-shape in order to reach the sides of your fingers. Alternate the shape of your hands from clawing to flexing to make sure you are getting in all the creases. To make it easier – you may want to use a make-up brush to give your more control or our favourite tanning hack is using our Purity Face Mist to evenly spritz over the hand.

Step 3: Finishing Touches

It’s all about finishing those touches for the most seamless finish. Blend the wrist with a little bit of moisturiser and either use a buffing mitt or rub your wrists together to help blend out the tan. Finally, take a wipe and clean the nails and palms of your hands to avoid any fake tan staining the nails.

Step 4: Fixing mistakes

If you do make a mistake – don’t worry. Practice makes perfect! Whilst you perfecting your routine, you can use our Tan Remover Mousse on any areas you need to correct, as it removes all traces of tan from day 1-5! Just simply apply the mousse and leave up to 5 minutes and watch your tan wash away.
